Up to Volume 10 now on my playlists. As usual with my playlists, this one spans the spectrum of pop and rock. You'll find pop rock, pop punk, Christian rock, some metal tracks and even some classics in this playlist.
There's so many great songs in this playlist. So, instead of torturing myself by trying to pick my favorite songs — which I always struggle to do anyway — I'm just going to list down the notable songs that you might want to check out.
Top 3 Favorite Songs
Broken by Lifehouse – this is an older track but still a really good one. I love the lyrics. And I love the many possible interpretations of this song. I view this song differently now, than when I listened to it back in high school.
No Matter What by Papa Roach – love this track from Papa Roach. Love the lyrics. Love the melody. Sing it to your significant other.
Peace Be Still by Hope Darst – beautiful song from Hope Darst. It was just what I needed to hear back then. Fast forward to today and I still get lots of frisson listening to it.
Top 3 Favorite New Finds
Best I Ever Had by State Of Shock – I have a soft spot for bands who write songs like this one. I'm not exactly sure what genre this song fits in, other than... rock. Maybe pop rock? It's just a great track and a great find.
Criminal by State Champs – what can I say, I love listening to pop punk. And this song is a good representation of that genre.
Lastly, honorable mentions goes to these three classic songs from eras gone by. I grew up listening to these songs. And I love listening to them today, just as much as I did when I was still a kid.
In case you didn't know, you could press the Play button on the embedded player and it will go through each song in the playlist. That will give you a 30-second preview of each track.
Up to Volume 9 now on my playlists. As usual with my playlists, this one spans the spectrum of the rock genre. There's pop rock, pop punk, emo, slow rock and some heavier tracks. There's also a couple of piano/cello covers in this playlist. One notable thing with this playlist, is the number of really good songs I've discovered. I list some of them further below.
First off, what is my favorite song in this playlist? Picking this one was tough. The really good songs in this playlist were news songs I've discovered. So, I wanted to pick one that isn't something new to me. And with that restriction in place, I pick “In My Blood / Swan Lake” by The Piano Guys. Just like the previous playlist, this one is not even a rock song. This is an awesome piano and cello cover of Shawn Mendes' hit song. Then they went one step further and combined it with a classical piece in Swan Lake. A really good track.
Now, as far as new songs I just discovered, there are many good ones in this playlist. And again, just like the previous playlist, I end up with a tie. It's between “Quiet Now” by Cold and “Shift – Acoustic” by Nova Prospekt. Both are really good rock songs. “Quiet Now” sounds a little more like mainstream rock. While “Shift” sounds different, like it has some tinge of emo and some other rock genre that I can't quite place. Kinda reminds me of A Perfect Circle in some parts. Either way, both are wonderful songs to listen to.
Who says you can't find great new songs to listen to in Spotify? You just have to know where to look.
Lastly, special mention has to go “Higher” by Creed. This song has aged well. My high school years were defined by a few notable rock bands — Creed was one of them. This song takes me back to the good old days of hanging around with good friends.

Links to playlists of songs that were shared on this blog. For now, they are all Spotify playlists. Eventually, I will convert them to text in the interest of preserving them for the future. I just haven't been able to figure out how to do that yet.
Now Listening to... All Songs – this playlist contains all the songs that have been shared on this blog. This will be a living playlist that will get updated as more songs are shared on this blog.
Now Listening to... Volume: 2 – picking up from where Volume 1 left off, this playlist contains the next 30 songs that have been shared on this blog.
Up to Volume 8 now on my playlists. This one spans the spectrum of the rock genre. There's pop rock, Christian rock, pop punk (with a number of punk goes pop covers), emo, slow rock, some heavier tracks and a ballad or two in this playlist.
My favorite song in this playlist is “May I” by Trading Yesterday. No, it's not even a rock song — more like a ballad. It's a beautiful song that you must listen to! Sing it to your spouse. Sing it to your sons or daughters. Sing it to your parents. Sing it to your friends. Or, let God sing it to you. There's so many different ways to interpret this song. And that's what makes it so good.
Honorable mention goes to “Calm The Storm” by Spoken. This song has a similar theme to my previous discovery, except this one is a rock song. And just like “Peace Be Still”, I am glad to have listened to this song today.
In case you didn't know, you could press the Play button on the embedded player and it will go through each song in the playlist. That will give you a 30-second preview of each track.
Up to Volume 7 now on my playlists. This one has a good mix of pop-rock, pop-punk, Christian rock and some heavier post-hardcore tracks.
In case you didn't know, you could press the Play button on the embedded player and it will go through each song in the playlist. That will give you a 30-second preview of each track. It kinda reminds me of the previews that I used to hear on FM radios. Obviously not quite the same, but I get the same feel from it.
Up to Volume 6 now on my playlists. This one has a good mix of emo, pop-rock and rock music. There's also a couple of contemporary Christian music in this one.
It was hard to pick one, but my favorite track in this playlist is the first one, God With Us by MercyMe. It is a beautiful song that soars and uplifts.
Up to Volume 5 now. This playlist has a good mix of pop rock and hard rock, with some emo and classic hits in between. If I were to pick my favorite track in this playlist, it would be a new song I just discovered, Hesitate by Stone Sour.
You might be wondering why I'm on an 80's music binge today. It's because I just found an all new “All Out 80's” playlist in Spotify that is pretty good.
Picking up from where Volume: 3 left off. While still having a good mix of tracks, this one is on the lighter side of rock. There's not much hard rock or metal tracks in this one. Compared to previous playlists, this one has a number of really good covers, like this one and this one. Interestingly, the most popular cover in this playlist was Wind Beneath My Wings by RyanDan. This playlist also sees the introduction of music from Asian artists, like Kitchie Nadal, DEPAPEPE and 6cyclemind. So, overall this playlist might be more appropriate for casual rock music listeners.
Picking up from where Volume 2 left off... you get the idea. This playlist contains a good mix of rock music, ranging from Soft Rock to Hard Rock and everything in between. Add in some slow classics to change it up. Pretty good playlist.
